Frequently Asked Questions

Candidate questions - Applications

  • I don't have any tickets or licences. Will you pay for me to upskill?
    • Zancott Recruitment does not generally pay for candidates to upskill. However, we can refer you to employment services partners (for example, a jobactive provider) and training providers who may be able to help you access subsidised training to upskill.

  • I don't have any tickets or licences. Will you still be able to find me a job?
    • Not every job requires a ticket or a licence. When you register with us, you will be asked some questions about your experience, employment history, and education, as well as if you have any work-related tickets and licences. Our Recruitment Consultants will match you to any available jobs that suit your skills profile. If there are no jobs available that match your profile, we will keep you registered in our database for other roles that you may be suited for.

  • Does Zancott Recruitment supply PPE?
    • Zancott supply a PPE starter pack, once you are Zancott Compliant and ready for your first Job Assignment.

  • Do you only employ Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people?
    • No. Zancott Recruitment employs people of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds and people from all diverse backgrounds.

  • What does it mean, "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply"?
    • Some employers may have internal company goals to encourage more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to work for their company. These goals may form part of a specified strategy, such as a Reconciliation Action Plan or an Indigenous Employment Strategy. Employers that have such a plan may want to encourage applications from qualified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. However, this does not mean that only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can apply for this job. All applicants will be considered, and the most qualified applicant will be chosen.

  • What does it mean if a job is specified for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people?
    • Some job vacancies can be specified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, as an affirmative action measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975. Where jobs are specified as available only to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, only qualified Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people may apply and employers may ask for proof of Aboriginality.

Whether a vacancy is specified for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, or the employer wishes to simply encourage more people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent to apply, all applicants must be qualified for the role and must follow standard recruitment processes.
